Building Schools For The Future /

Successful modern economies need highly skilled and highly motivated workforces. Britain’s Energy Coast™ could hold the key to accelerating investment and change in education in Cumbria.

Cumbria is already well advanced with plans for two new academies in Carlisle, one in North Copeland and another in Barrow to replace existing secondary schools with state-of-the-art new facilities for current and future generations of young people. Cumbria County Council, as the education authority, has been steering the process which has already seen tens of millions of pounds of public and private sector investment promised for those new academies.

Britain’s Energy Coast™ could offer an opportunity to work with the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to explore accelerating the huge investment promised for Cumbria in the national Building Schools for the Future programme. The tens of millions of pounds worth of investment in academies and from BSF will help equip Cumbria’s young people with the skills they will need for life. In turn they will provide Cumbria with professional and highly skilled workforce it needs to keep it at the forefront of the national and international energy business for generations to come.

The quality and vibrancy of Cumbria’s schools will be a key part of a complete education from infancy to university that will help keep the vitality and skills of the Cumbria’s young people in the county and attract new skills and new people to the area.
