Nominated site location /
The NDA is proposing to nominate approximately 250 hectares of land to the northwest of the existing Sellafield Site. The exact location of any new nuclear power plants within this area will depend on which company acquires the land and what their specific plans are, all of which will be subject to Government approval.
The utility company, RWE npower (RWE), has recently secured options to buy land at two sites in West Cumbria: one located to the north of Sellafield at Braystones and the other in South Copeland near Kirksanton. RWE intends to nominate the sites into the Government’s Strategic Siting Assessment process and will be carrying out their own public engagement process in due course.
