With substantial funding being sought for improvements to the Cumbria Coast Railway, it is important to ensure its potential is achieved by improving timetable connections with the West Coast Mainline.
With up to £35 million investment available, the anticipated improvements to timetable and infrastructure will reduce journey times to and from Cumbria and ending the perception of the west coast as a hard to reach area.
Cumbria County Council, along with West Lakes Renaissance, Cumbria Vision, local authorities and the private sector will join forces to lobby operators for improved connections.
