Stategic Road Improvements /
Transport will be one of the keys to maximising opportunities for West Cumbria and for the rest of the county under the Britain’s Energy Coast™ Masterplan.
Good road and rail links will be crucial for future of communities and businesses, for research and academia and industry in general.
Britain’s Energy Coast™ should bring long-term strategic road improvements to the area. Cumbria County Council is the highway authority for the county and manages and maintains some 7,700km of its roads.
The Highways Agency is responsible for trunk roads such as the A66. The Cumbria County Council will work with the Highways Agency, the Department for Transport and other stakeholders to bring about improvements to the county’s road network and to improve transport in general.
