Cumbria Coastal Railway Improvements /
We expect to see Britain’s Energy Coast™ bring real improvements to West Cumbria’s railway network.
Cumbria County Council will, as the transport authority for Cumbria, work with train and track operators, West Lakes Renaissance, Cumbria Vision and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, to improve stations, infrastructure and rolling stock along the Cumbria Coast Railway.
The improvements will make West Cumbria a far more attractive proposition for business and help fuel inward investment and bring quality jobs to the area. Better transport links will help local people, tourists and business travellers and strengthen the appeal of the west coast and of Cumbria as a whole.
Cumbria County Council will play a key role making sure that fresh investment brings these benefits and ensuring that they fit with other transport and infrastructure improvements in the area.
