The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority setting up its headquarters at Westlakes Science and Technology Park, Moor Row, on the edge of Whitehaven, has already shown benefits on the local economy.

The impact of creating higher paid jobs has had an important effect on local business and employment and represents a symbol of what can be achieved.

However, in the last year there have been a number of job losses within the public sector, including at Whitehaven Her Majesties Revenue and Customs, BCMS and Job Centre.

West Lakes Renaissance will work alongside the Northwest Regional Development Agency, Cumbria Vision and the Energy Coast Whitehall Adviser and Liaison team to create a prospectus of suitable sites and premises for public sector relocations.

West Lakes Renaissance will seek to secure the £750,000 needed to take this project forward from June 2009 to 2019.
