Enterprise Support For Over 50s/
Ensuring that those out of work can find employment is essential to firing West Cumbria’s future economic prosperity.
The impact of industrial decline means that the large majority of those out of work are over 50 years of age, so providing them with new opportunities is an important element of the Britain’s Energy Coast™ Masterplan’s enterprise work.
The foundations for progress have already been laid thanks to clarification of the Business Simplification Support Programme – a programme designed to make it easy for businesses to receive the support they need to flourish.
The challenge is to maximise links with other enterprise support programmes and, when needed, establish new initiatives to ensure to make sure employment is available to all regardless of age.
West Lakes Renaissance and Business Link are to secure the £1.5 million needed for the project. It is expected to start in 2010 and last five years.
